STANISLAV LACHMAN
ETA 402 JUPITER VACUUM CLEANER,
1956—59

This cigar-shaped domestic appliance was the first vacuum cleaner to have an all-plastic body. The dust bag was in the front part, which could be detached so the bag could be taken out once you had reached the dustbin. It also had a footoperated on-off switch. The designer came up with the idea of naming his vacuum cleaners after the planets, which were more memorable than numbers.
