ANTONÍN KYBAL
HAND-WOVEN TAPESTRY, 1948

In his work, Antonín Kybal focused almost solely on designing carpets. He initially used abstract geometrical patterns, but in the forties introduced organic designs. In 1945 he became Professor of Textile Art at the Academy of Applied Arts. He designed a set of textiles, including a curtain and tapestries with motifs of castles and chateaux, for the Czechoslovak pavilion at the Brussels Expo.
