JAN KOTÍK
VASE WITH RED CENTRE, 1956

For the painter, printmaker and glass artist Jan Kotík, glass was one of the few options for abstract work in the years of socialist realism. Between 1949 and 1967 he designed glass objects, working with leading Czech glassworks. His vases were admired at a number of exhibitions, including the Milan Triennial in 1957, and the Brussels Expo a year later.
