TOY CAT, 1963

Today’s thirty-somethings remember playing this cat like a harmonica, torturing it to produce a whistling sound. Throughout her career, Libuše Niklová set new trends with her designs for moulded and inflatable toys. The bodies of her animals could be compressed lengthways; that was one of the nine patents she owned, and it resulted in a series that included a donkey, a lion, a panther and this cat. The cat is a perfect example of the use of available technology to express a humorous idea.
